Window Measurement Guide

Taking a few simple measurements is the first step to beautifully tailored drapery. This guide will walk you through measuring your windows, selecting the right panel width and length, and choosing the hardware that best fits your space.

  • Measure Your Window

Measure the window width from outside the casing.

    Measure the window height.

Measure from the floor to the ceiling.

Measure in three places if needed, as flooring can be uneven.

  • Chose Your Rod

Extend rod 6–12" beyond each side.

Mount 6–12" above the window (or as close to the crown molding as possible to draw your eye up and maker the room feel taller).

Wider rods make windows appear larger.

  • Determining Panel Width

We currently offer 1.5x as our standard panel width, which is 40" finished width with 8 pleats and 2 tabs. This construction fits all standard window widths.

If you have extra wide windows, please email us for a custom quote.

  • Determine Panel Length

The right panel length depends on where your drapery rod is installed and the look you'd like to achieve. We recommend installing your rod before selecting your panel length whenever possible.

Step 1: Measure from the Rod to the Floor

Using a metal tape measure, measure from the eye of the drapery ring (or the point where your drapery hook will hang) straight down to the floor. This measurement will help you determine the appropriate finished panel length.

Step 2: Choose Your Desired Look

    Kiss the Floor (Recommended)
Panels gently graze the floor for a clean, tailored look. This is our recommended style and the one featured throughout most of our photography.

    Slight Break
Panels extend approximately ½–1 inch onto the floor for a softer, more relaxed appearance.

    Puddle
Panels extend 2–6 inches beyond the floor for a dramatic, formal look. This style is best suited for decorative spaces and is not recommended for high-traffic areas.

    Helpful Tips

    • Our adjustable drapery hooks allow for minor height adjustments during installation, making it easy to achieve a perfectly tailored finish.
    • Because our panels are crafted from natural linen and linen-blend fabrics, they may relax slightly after hanging. We recommend allowing your panels to hang for 48–72 hours before making any final height adjustments.

    Select Hardware

We offer a standard rod diameter that is 1 1/4".

We offer 3 finishes: vintage gold, bronze, and lucite.

All of our rods have pre-determined packs of ring sets we suggest adding to your order. You need 2 ring packs per single rod to hang 2 panels.

Choose between french return and standard end cap rods.

All of our rods come with prepared brackets and supports based upon length of rod.
